Canton, MI 5/29/08- If curiosity killed the cat then consistency captures championships and that’s the game Justin Schroeder has played to propel himself to a second place in the ARCA sanctioned Gold Cup mini-series at the Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio. The twenty-one year old Canton, Michigan native brought home another solid finish of sixth place in round two of the four round Gold Cup season schedule over the Memorial Day weekend.

Usually being in the runner up position at the halfway point of a series season schedule doesn’t mean a whole lot other than there is still a lot of racing left to run, but in a mini-series like the Gold Cup series it’s a totally different story. With two races remaining it means that everything about those two races is that much more crucial in order to have a shot of bringing the trophy back to his Michigan home.

“With Toledo only being a four race season it makes everything that much harder from gaining positions in the points standings to making passes on the race track. I just have to keep running like I have been and just let the points take care of themselves. One thing that is a positive is that you don’t necessarily have to win a race to be crowned a champion and that’s something that doesn’t really happen too often for most racers,” joked Justin.

While solid runs and championship hopes are going on at the wide, fast track of Toledo the story is a bit different at the quarter-mile bullring of Flat Rock Speedway in Flat Rock, Michigan. Schroeder sits eighth in the championship standings picking up two top ten finishes in just three starts. It is more matching up luck with opportunity at a place like Flat Rock; every pass is earned or taken depending om which end of the spectrum you happen to be on.

“It is really no secret to anyone that has raced or watched racing at Flat Rock that anything can happen there. I really think we have a good shot at getting a win there this season we just have to get a little luck on our side for the inversion. It’s not that someone can’t win from starting outside the first couple of rows but it sure makes it easier on you and your equipment to start up front. But it’s the same thing here like the points are at Toledo it’s something I really don’t even think about because whatever is going to happen is going to happen regardless of what I think about it,” stated Schroeder.
